IAA Compass Awards Launch With Iconic New Identity

The International Advertising Association announces the launch of the IAA COMPASS AWARDS as the new branding for the IAA Awards program in 2020.


The new IAA Compass Awards are aligned with the IAA refreshed branding and value proposition of being “The global compass of marketing communications”, inaugurated in 2019 to celebrate the IAA’s 80th Anniversary, and this replaces the IAA Inspire Awards program.




The strategy for re-aligning IAA Awards to reflect and embody the new IAA “Compass” brand positioning is to infuse our awards program with our value proposition  by consolidating all IAA Awards (internal and external) under one consistent brand identity and embedding the IAA value proposition in the full range of IAA awards.

 

A unique international identity and image has been created for all IAA Awards to encapsulate the “Compass” branding. To launch the IAA Compass Awards a new 3-dimensional trophy has been crafted, symbolizing our IAA compass identity and brand logo which wraps around the new IAA Compass Awards trophy (featured above). This was a collaborative effort involving Australia, New York, Romania and India – an international feat that truly symbolize the IAA’s unique global resources.

 

IAA VP Awards, Heather Leembruggen presented the new 2002 IAA Compass  Awards program and identity at the IAA World Board meeting in New York saying:

 

“Recognizing and celebrating leadership in the IAA and the broader global marketing communications industry is an essential ingredient in the IAA ethos and the compass image showcases this significant characteristic of the IAA organization superbly.“

 

“As an organization the IAA has the unique benefit of a global footprint which embraces leaders from all sectors of our industry from all corners of the world and we can justifiably pay tribute to outstanding leaders who are members of our IAA global community as well as visionary global leaders in the worldwide industry.

 

“As the global compass of marketing communications the IAA is proud to honour leadership and vision with commitment to excellence in communications and outstanding services contributed to worldwide advancement of the International Advertising Association and the global marcoms industry.”

 

The new IAA Compass Awards comprise of six categories of awards:


IAA Golden Compass Award, IAA Champion, IAA Young Leader, IAA Honorary Life Member, IAA Chapter Excellence and IAA Young Professionals Chapter Excellence.

 

The alignment program for IAA Awards under the IAA Compass banner was based on research results of a global survey in May/June 2019 which were used to underpin future directions for the IAA Awards program

 

We researched the IAA family via a target audience representing the leadership of the organization: IAA Executive Committee, VPs and Board members, Chapter Presidents, IAA Young Professional leaders and Chapter Executive Directors.


The Survey researched the relevance of each award, the nomination/submission process, the judging system, the communications program and, most importantly, the alignment of all awards under the compass banner.

 

There was strong support for a purpose-built website devoted to the IAA Compass Awards program and this new on-line facility will be available for all nominations and submissions processes at www.iaacompassawards.org

 

The new IAA Compass Awards program will launch in January 2020 through to March 2020 with a “Call for Entries”, and all IAA members will be invited to nominate fellow IAA members and industry colleagues and provide submissions for the various award categories per criteria provided at www.iaacompassawards.org

 

All the successful IAA Compass Awards winners will be presented with their trophies and publicly honored to celebrate their achievements, in the global marketing communications industry, at the IAA Compass Awards Presentation ceremony at the IAA World Congress in St Petersburg 27-29 May 2020.
